In 2007, internet marketers said 2008 would be different. It was. In 2008, they said the same thing about 2009. And it was. In 2009, they said 2010 would be different. And you know what? It is.

The largest change in 2010 was predicted to be the changes in FTC guidelines. You know those Acai products that were “$0.99″ and then charged “$49.99″ twice to people’s cards due to a subscription they didn’t, or couldn’t cancel? The guidelines were projected to eliminate those by requiring the companies to state out-right that fees would be charged.

Yet, it’s almost a third of the way through 2010 and those monster companies are still thriving as much as ever. The only thing that has changed, only in part because of the FTC guidelines, is the fact that companies like “Freecreditreport.com” have been forced to state that their services are, unsurprisingly enough, not free and that United States citizens are entitled to a free annual credit report.

As of more recent news, Facebook has recently become the major “target” for internet marketing. If you have an account, you may have been suggested to a few hundred pages involving three steps to get something. This, no matter how much money you could make off of it, is where my internet marketing advice for 2010 starts off. Don’t be stupid and blitzkrieg Facebook with spam. Moreover, don’t spam at all.

The common “moral”, for lack of a better word, that holds in spamming is that “It only hurts image.” Contrary to popular belief, it hurts both the image of whatever you’re promoting and the ability to promote in that same method in the long run.

As a matter of fact, as I write this, I’m sure that the 3-step-blitz is being culled as we speak by Facebook’s developers. So what lesson is there to learn from this? What panacea of internet marketing advice can be tokened away from this? A few things specific to 2010 can be.

Start thinking long term. A quick buck is a quick buck, but what good is $8,000 today when you can make a grand total of $0.00 the rest of the year? The “quick answer” is it doesn’t matter, you’ll simply find another way to make money. While it is true that there are literally thousands of ways to make money online, how many have you tried and succeeded with?

Stop thinking short term. While this may sound redundantly redundant, stop thinking about the short term. Think about the long term. Start building a name, an image, perhaps even a website. The biggest piece of internet marketing advice that I can give is to at least begin one of the long-term money making strategies that have been outlined here. It doesn’t matter if you work with referrals, membership sites, or even free content that users read. Just do it, at least on the side. You’ll thank yourself for it later when everything else goes to hell in a hand basket.

And finally, think about next year. That being said, reflect on the current year as it happens and plan ahead. The people who rank at the top of search engines for some of the busiest terms in the world either watch, read and listen to everything about search engines and business that they can or they have other people that watch, read and listen and who get paid to give them internet marketing advice.

So what’s the moral of this story? Plan ahead and stop looking at today’s quick buck. Tomorrow’s steady stream of income is today’s impossible goal. And today’s impossible goal is ALWAYS preferrable to today’s inevitable screw-up. That, in a nutshell, is my internet marketing advice for 2010.

I have also opened comments on this for everyone to reply with their own internet marketing advice for 2010. I’d love to hear your own personal thoughts and opinions on this.

Choosing the right keyword will set the foundation for your website. If you choose a keyword that is “inadequate” in describing your content or unable to attract visitors, you will end up with a nicely decorated boat without a single passenger. In other words, you’ll end up with content no one will ever read and have a giant headache from wasting your effort.

The purpose of this guide is simple, I want to give you advice on how to choose the right keyword for your website.

That’s right, just five easy, no-BS steps to choosing the right keyword for your website in order to make it flourish.

1. Find a keyword that relates to what you want to make a website about. When I start to do this step, I write out a long list of keywords that I can use then I use Google’s Adwords Keyword Research Tool to find a keyword with a lot of competition and a lot of monthly searches. If competitors are trying to buy your keyword on adwords, then it’s something people want. If people are searching for your keyword, then it’s worth shooting for.

2. Determine the length of time you’re willing to allow for in order to rank highly in search engines. My personal formula goes something like this:

0-6 months: Enter your keyword or phrase into Google with quotation marks surrounding it. If your results are less than 10,000 in number, use it. Otherwise, find a new keyword.

6 months to 1.5 years: Anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 results and you can rank well in this time frame.

1.5 years+: Anything past this is incredibly hard to tell. I will present a strategy to to do, however.

3. Answer the following question: Can you build links from website that are related to your keyword? Is the keyword phrase so long that your relevant link text will look normal?

If you can answer yes to these questions, then proceed to step 4.

If you can’t answer these questions, Google is your friend. Google your keywords. Google keywords related to your keywords. At this point, you should know what kind fo strategy you are going to use to build backlinks. If you’re going to comment on people’s blogs, can you successfully use your keyword as your anchor text? Some keywords may be too long to use as anchor text. If you’re going to put it in your forum signature, will it look odd? Planning is 95% of the battle.

If you answered no to these questions, then go back to step 1.

4.Are these keywords that build on other keywords you might want to focus on? For example, the keyword phrase “best puppy training guides” is cumulative to the keyword “puppy training guides” and “puppy training.” If they are, proceed to step 5.

5. Write a few articles relating to your keyword. Use your keyword in the titles and keywords in the text. Are these readable? If you think that someone would legitimately be interested in reading your articles and you’ve arrived at this step after completing the previous ones, you have the keyword that will work for you.

That’s all there is to it. I know it seems easy, but choosing right keyword for your website can be frustrating and tedious. However, if you’re looking for an easier solution, be sure to sign up. Members will receive member-only advice that non-members will miss out on.

In 2009, it was especially difficult to get a high search engine optimization ranking for anything that owuld immediately come ot mind, especially for webmasters just starting out. In 2010, it will be even harder to rank for these words. The fact that many big contenders have already ranked extremely well for the most common search phrases. However, I will tell you how to rank higher than most using just the basics of search engine optimization to get a high search engine optimization ranking.

So, how is it done? The first step starts with your own website. Does it have the following?

Your Website’s Targetted Keyword.

<meta> tags, description and keywords included.

Canonical urls. These are easily navigated urls by search engines. Instead of “page.php?id=QazERF” your urls will be something like “/my-post-about-something-important/”. See the url of this post for a live example.

Are your images named something important? This is commonly overlooked, but are your images named “0eeaf349aab.jpg”? Instead of that, rename them to somthing appropriate such as “high-search-engine-optimization-ranking-starts-with-relevant-filenames.jpg”.

If your on-site search engine optimization is good, you will be able to get a high search engine optimization ranking inevitably, provided your have links back to your page from relevant sources. This process, depending on your competition, can be an incredibly lengthy thing to do if you are just starting out. There are a few tips I can provide to make this easier.

Firstly, put a link to your website in your signature in the forums you post in related to your keyword. Don’t have a forum? Google one, it’s a worthy investment for the amount of backlinks that a simple post can generate. And backlinks means you get a high search engine optimization ranking, of course.

Secondly, exchange links with websites that have website related to your keyword. This can lead to both an increase in traffic to your website and an increase in search engine ranking. However, be careful of websites that will add your link but also add a “nofollow” tag to your link. This will make the backlink essentially useless for anything but traffic. While traffic is your ultimate goal in getting a high search engine optimization ranking, traffic does not improve your search engine ranking.

Lastly, you can invest in products to help with getting a high search engine optimization ranking, such as SEO Elite. This will automate most of the time-consuming parts of getting backlinks. Products like tehse are decent not because they show you some secret to ranking well, but that they do make tedious things that most people end up forgetting easier.

That’s it! Every single thing you need to know in order to get a high search engine optimization ranking. That is, at least for now. I still have a few tricks up my sleep that I will be emailing to subscribers, so be sure to register or bookmark our homepage!

Today I’ll be explaining one method to easily make cash just from getting people to download your files. I’ll walk you through the way to register, give you a file you can download and then upload yourself, and then tell you some was you can distribute your file. Basically, I’m doing all the hard word and going to give you an introduction on an easy way to make a few extra dollars for anything from lunc to even garnering some start-up cash for a website with your own paid domain.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Register at ShareCash by clicking here. They pay a decent amount per download (I’ve personally managed $0.10 to $1.60) and they also pay about $5 for each “Premium User” that register via your download link.

For this guide, we will be distributing a guide that runs people through this very method in order to get some money to buy in-game points in a game called Mafia Wars. You can download the guide here. (Note: You have to be registered on this site in order to access the download.)

Once that’s down, go back to ShareCash, log in and click on the ‘Uploads’ button on the left-hand side. You’ll then use the uploader to upload the same guide you just downloaded. Once it’s download, go to the ‘Uploads Manager’, mouse over your newly uploaded file, click Details, and then copy the file url. That’s how people will download your file and how you’ll get credited for when they do.

This is the hardest and most crucial part of the entire guide: Find a way to make users download your file. This can be done in a multitude of ways. For example, if you have a large group on Facebook with many Mafia Wars players, you can distribute this guide as a “Free Godfather Points Guide.”

That’s absolutely all there is to it! You can repeat this formula for any files you have redistributable rights to. If you have a set of wallpapers, for example, you can upload them in a zip file and share them. I will note that if you run a website, give your users an option of whether or not they want to download with ShareCash. The reason for this is that in order to download a file off ShareCash, your user will need to fill out a CPA offer (akin to the ads you get when you visit websites) or have a premium user account.

Enjoy! And remember, the sky’s the limit when it comes to Pay-Per-Download systems. You can make as much money as the number of people you get to download your files.

There’s two major obstacles for anyone trying to get their website listed in a search engine for ranking: Having it rank highly for a keyword and having it rank at all. Having your site noticed, or being indexed, is a bit of a challenge sometimes. You can build hundreds of links back to your website and still not even show up for a single result if you have a brand new website.

According to the Big G itself, there’s a couple of reasons your website may not be indexed yet. (And do keep the word ‘yet’ in mind.)

Although Google crawls billions of pages, it’s inevitable that some sites will be missed. When our spiders miss a site, it’s frequently for one of the following reasons:

The site isn’t well connected through multiple links from other sites on the web.

The site launched after Google’s most recent crawl was completed.

The design of the site makes it difficult for Google to effectively crawl its content.

The site was temporarily unavailable when we tried to crawl it or we received an error when we tried to crawl it. You can use Google Webmaster Tools to see if we received errors when trying to crawl your site.

So what exactly does that all mean? It boils down to three things, which are in the order of importance: Do you have backlinks from sites Google’s spiders crawl, has the bot crawled your site and can the bot navigate across your site?

Firstly, even if your newly-made site does have backlinks, they may not be from a website that Google actively crawls. For inactivate, relatively unchanging websites, Google’s spiders tend to crawl it only one or two times a month. While some of these pages can be quality backlinks, they may not show up immediately. If there are no baclinks to the site giving you backlinks, then Google’s bot will most likely not know about your own website.

Secondly, there’s the problem that Google’s spiders simply may not have crawled your page yet. Generally, this relates back to the first point of how often your backlinks are subsequently crawled.

Thirdly, with some websites that use alternative means of navigation, such as Flash menus or XHTML navigation, sometimes Google’s spiders have trouble navigating across your website. This also goes for any websites that are backlinks to yours. If the spiders cannot navigate from the main page of the site linking back to you to the page with the actual link on it, as in the case of a link on a profile, then it may not cause the spider to crawl your website and index it.

In addition to these three things, there’s also something known as the “sandbox effect,” which is essentially the fact that Google tends to put sites into a ’sandbox’ for the first three to six months of its existence. This is normal, but should only affect rankings, not whether your website is indexed or not.

To see if your website has been indexed, you simply go to Google, type in “site:www.website.com” and see if any results are returned. Hopefully at least your homepage is returned.

If it’s not and you’ve had a decent amount (at least five or six on active websites), there’s a few tricks you can try. The first off is to put your website in the signature of an internet forum and to be active and contribute. If you post in a thread that gets noticed by the spider, then you’re almost guaranteed an automatic indexing.

Another trick you can try is to bookmark your website (or page) with a social bookmarking website, such as Jumptags or Digg. After submitting, ping the submission with a tool such as Pingler.
